Job Description / Responsibility
ACDI/VOCA Bangladesh is a leading international development agency, based in Washington, D.C., is currently implementing PROSHAR programs in Bangladesh. It is a five-year $45 million Title II development project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) focusing on the following areas: the promotion of sustainable livelihood strategies; improved health and nutrition; and enhanced community ability to respond to vulnerabilities and shocks. ACDI/VOCA now seeks application from qualified professionals for the position of Environmental Specialist based in Khulna. The incumbents will report to the Livelihood Team Leader.

PURPOSE:
The Khulna Based Environmental Specialist is responsible for overall environmental community risk assessment (CRA) as includes mapping, data collection and management for PROSHAR and its implementing partner’s program implementation of PROSHAR activities in Khulna. This SOsposition will also work closely with all SO’s, M&E, Commodity as well as other related staff for tracking of environmental indicators for all PROSHAR activities.

RESPONSIBILITES:
Responsible for developing/sourcing training modules related to environmental compliance;
Planning for training of PROSHAR staff and partner NGOs to build capacity on environmental review and compliance;
Responsible for overall environmental CRA incorporating with all SOs;
Data collection and management for PROSHAR;
Ensure appropriate program implementation of PROSHAR activities in association with the PNGOs in PROSHAR working area;
Evaluate data on an ongoing basis for PROSHAR as well as maintain effective collaboration with the National, divisional, district and Upazila level relevant department of GoB, INGOs and other partners;
Quarterly Monitoring on PROSHAR activities related to environment at union/upazila level as well as PNGOs;
Evaluation in the area of environmental compliance and management;
Strictly ensure that the PROSHAR PERSUAP (Pesticide Evaluation Report and Safer Use Action Plan) implementing appropriately with intermigration of all SOs;
All other duties as assigned by the Livelihood Team Leader and or Chief of Party.

Educational Requirements
Masters preferably on Environmental Science or Agricultural Science from any recognized university;

Experience Requirements
Minimum 5 year(s)

Additional Job Requirements
At least five years of related experience in development sector;
Excellent interpersonal skills; proven ability to handle multiple tasks;
Familiarity with USAID funded program as an advantage;
Knowledge on USAID environmental regulation is a preferably priority requirement;
Microsoft, Word, Excel and PowerPoint are essential requirements for this position;
Knowledge on M&E data base would be consider as an advantage;
Excellent written and spoken English skills;
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
Ability to work effectively in a team or independently.
