Job Description / Responsibility
Reports to: Program Director -EYE
“Support Urban Slum children To Access Inclusive Non-formal education (SUSTAIN)” funded by European Commission (EC) and Save the Children Denmark (SCD) is the integrated basic education project with Education for Youth Empowerment (EYE) program. The project is supposed to start in October 2012 and will last 72 months until December 2017(6 years project). The objective of the project is “To increase equal access to quality basic education in a safe learning environment for hardest to reach children in urban slums of Dhaka and Chittagong and mainstream students into the formal education system or into other educational alternatives”.
Accountable for implementing the project through ensuring participation of partners, children, their parents and community in accordance to approved project document and its strategy, objectives and indicators.
Reporting and monitoring on project implementation progress (financially and narrative) according to EC guidelines and regulations.
Providing technical support to PNGOs in terms of implementation of project activities in line with the project logframe and workplan as well as ensuring that PNGOs are reporting according to EC guidelines and regulations.
Partnership management according to the partnership policy of Save the Children in compliance with EC guideline and regulations.
Conducting research and study according to action plan of the project document using internal or external recourses
Developing advocacy strategy to and facilitating national level advocacy initiatives of the project
Coordinate and ensure the development of all visibility, awareness raising and advocacy material
Develop together with the PNGOs a detailed work plan for each project year.
Represent the organization at national Level for strengthening network and advocacy.
Ensure that mechanisms and capacities are in place to ensure project funds are managed according to grants plans, monitor it periodically, and take action accordingly
Organise and facilitate the quarterly project management steering committee (PMSC) meetings with the relevant PNGO and EYE thematic program team.
Establish linkage with EYE thematic program and project outcome to promote good practices.
Provide technical support to PNGO staff to ensure reporting according to EC guidelines.
Provide pedagogical and curriculum based support to the PNGOs and EYE thematic team.
Ensure that Save the Children’s communication, administration and finance department has all necessary information to provide their project support (e.g. visibility material development, financial reports, release of funds to the PNGOs, procurement and logistics).
Provide technical support to policy interpretation, and guidance related to Education Policy, EFA, National Plan of Action, PEDP, NFE and National Child Labour Elimination Policy.
Keep the supervising EYE Programme Director updated on all necessary and important project processes and issues.
Facilitating visits of all external project visitors.

Minimum 7 year(s)
Additional Job Requirements
A minimum of 7 years working experience in an international development organization in a coordination and/or project or programme implementation role (mandatory)
At least 5 years of working experience with Basic Education program related to working children (mandatory)
Strong knowledge on pedagogy, NCTB curriculum, pre-primary education, Education Policy, NFE policy (Mandatory)
Direct education project implementation experience related to urban LGIs (City Corporation), their structures and mechanisms (mandatory)
Experience in developing awareness raising, advocacy materials, education materials, (mandatory)
Strong reporting and monitoring skills in line with requirements of institutional donors (mandatory) – in particular EC (desirable)
Proven experience to work and liaise with local and national NGOs in Bangladesh, including provision of programme and organizational capacity support to them (mandatory)
High proficiency in English and Bengali in spoken and written (mandatory)
Commitment to and understanding Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
Computer literacy at advanced level with the MS Word 2007 Office package
Adaptable and flexible with the willingness to frequently travel outside Dhaka.
Good communication skills, tact, patience and diplomacy.
Will respect and abide by Save the Children’s child protection, security and other polices and guidelines.

TK. 100000

Salary : Salary will be BDT 100,000.00 per month, including all benefits and bonuses. The salary is not negotiable.
